I'd like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays for the politically correct). May you and your families have a very pleasant holiday and Happy New Year!
A friend of mine sent me some pictures they managed to take during the Def Leppard concert. (I talked about the concert in my last posting.) Some of them are a little blurry, but they came out rather well considering the light levels of the Saddle Dome...
The stage before the fun started.
Styx. Yes, that's Gowan on the keyboards. Yes he was playing them behind his back.
In tech circles it is well known there is a "levy" (aka a tax) when we buy blank media like CDs and DVDs. The purpose of this tax is to compensate the music industry for the mere potential that this mere potential that the purchaser MAY use that media to hold a copy of music or video files. Now comes new that Canada will add a similar levy to iPods. (http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/07/07/19/2038231.shtml)
I've made some needed changes to the new theme. The administrative pages are now working better. Not that they weren't working, just that they needed some styles applied to fix up their visual aspects. In addition to these changes though, I've also turned on user accounts.
I recently found a treasure trove of website themes over at Open Source Web Design. I found one I liked and decided to try my hand at making it work with Drupal. The process isn't tooo bad, but did take a bit of work to get to what you see now. There is still work to be done, but mostly on the Drupal administration pages. And this is simply adding padding, removing some borders, adjusting spacing, etc. Typical CSS things.
That's all I can say. I happened to find my family history documentation that has been passed down to me, and I thought was lost. Luckily it was just misplaced. More to the point, the bound pages were placed inside an empty binder then put on a shelf full of other empty binders. So all my previous searches for this skipped past the "empty" binders.
After being offline for most of the day, I was able to catch up on some news. One of the first mesasges I read was Carla Schroder's Open Season on Women. What caught my eye here is that with a title like that, this better be a woman posting the article - a man should not be making such statements. What I read was eye opening.
Well, the internet connection to my location has been down for the past number of hours. The cause? My ISP (Shaw Cable) decided to change my static IP addresses without telling me. Apparently they missed the fact that my account would be affected when they replaced a router, so I wasn't notified until after the fact.
